Case for Change
The objective of this project is to review the coal mining units of competency in the RII training package.
A Case for Change for this project was approved by the AISC in August 2018.
On behalf of the Coal Mining IRC, PwC’s Skills for Australia commenced industry consultations for this project from November 2018.
Consultation will focus on identifying opportunities to create more transferable skills in coal mining, as well as focus upon other issues such as the impact of new technologies on ways of working, the increased safety focus among regulators and the need for greater support to develop managerial skills for leadership roles.

Training Product Development
Following the MDCI IRCs’ approval of our key findings from consultation, we have developed draft training products to address the skills gaps identified for the industry.
The first batch of these draft training products is now available for public review.
Click on the link below to download the documents and find out how to submit your feedback.
We will be accepting your feedback until COB Friday October 4th 2019.
The next step is to develop a Case for Endorsement for changes to the RII Training Package, which is to be provided to the MDCI IRCs for approval and submitted to the AISC later this year.
